Meanwhile, disobeying direct orders from her superiors, Itsuki Kannagi of the Inter-Colony Police begins her undercover investigation into the appearance of Leopard and its connection to Akiha …

Die Geschichte spielt im Jahr 311 nach dem Orbitalkalender: Die Menschheit hat den Weltraum besiedelt und unzählige Kolonien treiben im All umher. Die siebzehnjährige Akiha führt ein normales, relativ unbeschwertes Leben und ihre einzige größere Sorge ist es, dass sie keine Pläne für ihre Zukunft hat. Durch Zufall trifft sie eines Tages auf die künstliche Intelligenz »Leopard«, die die Kontrolle über eine plötzlich aufgetauchte Weltraumkolonie innehat. Durch dieses Treffen verändert sich Akihas Leben schlagartig. Nicht nur scheint Leopard ein bestimmtes Ziel zu verfolgen, auch auf ihrer Heimatkolonie mehren sich die Anzeichen für eine Verschwörung, die den Hintergrund der künstlichen Intelligenz zu betreffen scheinen. Akiha befindet sich nun im Mittelpunkt der Ereignisse und trifft in der Folge auch noch auf weitere Leute, die in die Sache involviert sind, wie das wortkarge Mädchen Honoka Kawai oder die Weltraumpolizistin Itsuki Kannagi, die es als ihre Aufgabe sieht, Licht in diese Affäre zu bringen.
